When planning is comfort

Have you seen this cheeky meme doing the rounds lately?

We were delighted to see Eule fan Philippa Moore declare that she’s still planning up a storm in these COVID-19 times, thank you very much. Likewise, the lovely Sophy Dale wrote, “These times are shredding my attention span. I’m finding I’m focusing better with analog tools, so have been finding my Eule Planner really helpful to keep me on track.”

I was waxing lyrical to Kerstin on last Thursday’s Team Eule call that my planner has “become a real anchor” in These Times. It’s an analog retreat in a noisy digital world.

When I’ve had my fill of news, work, or Instagram’s advice on how to live your best lockdown life (or advice on how to ignore that advice), I turn to my trusty Eule with its buttery soft cover and orderly layouts. I may not know what’s going to happen next month, next week, or even tomorrow but I can grab my pens and take a moment to focus on right now.

I started April with lofty aims to use the daily tracking spread to track habits - writing, meditating, my government-sanctioned daily exercise. That lasted about half a day.

Instead I’ve kept things simple, writing down my appointments in the weekly spread. It’s basically just an assortment of Zoom calls, but it’s a wee frame for the week.

The other thing I’m logging is what’s for dinner.

My husband, who is now on furlough from his job as a whisky distiller, has found the adjustment tricky. “There is no structure,” he said, “And all I do is think about my next meal”.

“Welcome to my world, buddy”, I replied.

So bring some order to our lives I went poking in the cupboards on Sunday afternoon then planned a menu. Yes, we had a lot of potatoes to use up last week!

And finally, as one unlikely to create a lockdown masterpiece, my Eule Planner has become the home of doodling. I devoted a whole blank page to Mildliner squiggles. Quite relaxing, I gotta say!

How are you and your Eule Planner getting on lately? We’d love to hear. Feel free to take a photo of your pages and tag us @euleplanner / #euleplanner.

We hope you’re keeping well and staying safe.
