Welcome to Entrepreneur Spotlight, or in this case, it’s actually a student spotlight from one of my wonderful Squarespace students!
Karen and I got chatting on Instagram a while ago after she sent me a lovely message about how my Express course helped her launch her own business during the pandemic! Of course, I wanted to know more about Karen and her business, and I was delighted to discover that she is an Enneagram coach. I am a huge Enneagram fan (I’m a 9) and agree with Karen about its transformative powers.

Karen Leigh has been passionate about teaching since she was six years old. Since discovering the Enneagram and experiencing its transformative effect on her life, she’s combined her passion for teaching with a desire to see people living out their most authentic life.
In 2019, she embarked on a journey of inspiring people to learn about the Enneagram and how to use this tool to unlock and discover who they were truly meant to be. This Zimbabwean-born mother of four presently resides in Cape Town, South Africa.
Karen’s Story
When our country abruptly closed for five weeks of intense lockdown, it was a welcome relief as we’d just relocated back to Cape Town from Mauritius, and had spent an extra two months renting out Airbnbs whilst waiting for our container to arrive with our entire household contents, whilst settling four kids into new schools!
Lockdown presented us with an opportunity to be still and reflect. For me that meant reflecting on a necessary pivot. On the island of Mauritius, I had run live Enneagram workshops and loved it, but here I was back in an old and familiar country - but now unable to offer my live workshops. What was I to do?
As lockdown seemed to stretch out before us endlessly I decided I would keep a promise to myself and launch my business back here, even if it looked differently to what I thought it would be. I purchased Squarespace Express one weekend when I was fed up with trying to figure out how to build a website.
I am SO THANKFUL I did! Creating my own website through the Express course gave me such tremendous confidence in launching my business!
Kerstin taught website building in such a clear, linear, and logical way that my brain lapped it up, and within a few weeks I had a professional website that was up and running!
I’m not sure it will ever be perfect enough in my eyes, but I do receive a lot of compliments on it: family, friends and clients are amazed that I built it.
As a teacher myself, I especially loved that I was being taught the way I would teach - methodically, hands on, and above all so logically and sequentially! Step by step, Kerstin led me through well-shot videos and practical demonstrations of Squarespace 7.1, explaining the functionality of each element. Please hear me - I knew NOTHING about website building at the beginning of this course. Not one bit!
I was also drawn to its value for money (no where else had I found such a reasonably priced course), and the assurance that I could have a website in two days made it so attractive to me (my own technical issues made it take longer than advertised, but I have no doubt you could do it in that time).
I loved that Kerstin was honest about Squarespace’s limitations and their glitches and what they were still ironing out in 7.1, which also as a newbie gave me confidence to not be alarmed when glitches occurred on my own site. And, I even learnt some custom CSS code which made me feel even cleverer!
I also love that I have lifetime access to the course materials - and I often find myself going back and rewatching something to refresh my memory (oh what did she say about SEO again? Oh yes, how do I do this with the colours?).
Working with Kerstin is a richly rewarding experience. Not only will you learn so many skills if you’re a newbie like me, but along the way she throws out graphic design jewels which just blew me away.
I’ve just had my first month and I actually made money! I highly recommend this course to any entrepreneur who wants to build their own website - it is one of the wisest investments you can make in your business.
