How is this course structured?
This is a self-paced course and you will immediately get lifetime access to all materials, including written and video instructions, checklists, links and resources, as well as access to a private Facebook group for questions, feedback and sharing your work.
Will I have access to the instructor?
The easiest way to reach me is via the Facebook group where I check in pretty much every day during the week. Periodically I also collect questions via the group and post my answers in a Q&A video session which I post to the group and to the course page.
Is it worth my investment of $247?
There are many wonderful online teachers who are sharing their gifts with the world and everyone has their own unique approach and skillset. Definitely compare what others have to offer (see also next point below) and ask questions if needed. It is important to me, and you, that you feel good about this investment. My course fee reflects my many years of experience as a web designer, facilitator and workshop leader, as well as the substance of this course - you get all the tools you need, not only to set up a new website but to make it your own. I put my heart and soul into Squarespace 101 and don’t just teach the technical how to’s but share everything I know with regards to my design flow, taking you through all the steps from preparation to post-launch. You also benefit from me still actively designing websites for small businesses and entrepreneurs and thus staying current and involved with all things Squarespace. Before you make your decision take a moment to read the testimonials to see what other participants are saying about this course.
Are you the right teacher for me?
Have a look at my portfolio and get a feel for my style and take note of the details and how the content of my websites is designed and organized. This will give you a good idea of what to expect in my course. Additionally I encourage you to check out other web design and Squarespace courses, do your due diligence and compare what all of us offer with what you need.
What else will I learn in this course?
All the technical how to's aside it is my goal for you to learn how to create a website that is not only visually stunning but also functional and well organized. An online home for you or your business where your visitors or clients can easily find the information they are looking for and where they feel welcome and connected to you. Think design + functionality + personality = win/win.
What qualifies you to teach this course?
I've been there and done it. I designed my first website in 1999 and for many years I tinkered with Blogger, Typepad and Wordpress before falling in love with Squarespace in 2008. Since starting my own business as a Squarespace web designer in 2014 I have built more than 40 websites for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs, and I am also a Squarespace Circle member. In addition to my Squarespace expertise you will benefit from my unique combination of technical, business and creative skills, all acquired during my three-decade corporate career. I am an experienced facilitator who has taught many successful technical and customer service workshops. Please click here to learn more about my background.
Do you teach branding or marketing?
I am not a branding or marketing specialist. However, I will teach you how to make design choices and create a beautiful website without being an expert. The beauty of my process is that it often reveals your brand identity along the way! Plus, once you have your gorgeous and well organized website you will be able to start focusing on marketing your services because now you have a place where your customers will get a very clear understanding of what you are all about. On the other hand, if you really feel like you have no idea what you want or need with regards to your branding and marketing, then there are lots of wonderful specialists out there who can help, simply contact me and I will be happy to make some recommendations.
Why do you like Squarespace so much?
Having spent almost two decades working with different systems I fell in love with Squarespace because it not only looks beautiful but also makes my life easier. I will never deny the benefits of Wordpress, which I used for many years and which is a very powerful platform. But even though I am a geek at heart I was just getting tired of the constant maintenance requirements in Wordpress and being at the mercy of the flakey plug-in designers and plug-ins that either slowed down or even broke my site. With Squarespace I never have to worry about the backend which frees me up to focus on the design, organization and functionality of my website. Plus you can't beat Squarespace's support, hands down the best I have ever experienced. I wrote a post about it! ➝ Read it here.
