How is this course structured?
This is a self-paced course and you will immediately get lifetime access to all materials, including written and video instructions, checklists, links and resources, as well as access to a private Facebook group for questions, feedback and sharing your work.
Will I have access to the instructor?
I am very active in the private Facebook group where I provide ongoing and timely technical support and design feedback. Periodically I also collect questions via the group and post my answers in a Q&A video session which I post to the group and to the course page.
Is it worth my investment of $247?
There are many wonderful online teachers who are sharing their gifts with the world and everyone has their own unique approach and skillset. It is important to me, and you, that you feel good about this investment. When you purchase my course you not only get a complete and easy to manage tool-set for designing your own website from scratch, you also get my personal support. I am very engaged in the private Facebook group where I answer questions and provide feedback. You also benefit from me still working as a web designer and thus staying current and involved with all things Squarespace. If you’d like to hear what other students are saying about this course, please read my testimonials.
Are you the right teacher for me?
Have a look at my portfolio and get a feel for my design style and how the content of my websites is organized. This will give you a good idea of what to expect in my course. My teaching style is relaxed and engaged. If you are looking for someone who is supportive and approachable then we will get along wonderfully!
What else will I learn in this course?
All the technical how to's aside it is my goal for you to learn how to create a website that is not only visually stunning but also functional and well organized. An online home for you or your business where your visitors or clients can easily find the information they are looking for and where they feel welcome and connected to you.
How quickly can I get my site up and running?
There are students who have done the course and created their site in a week! It is entirely up to you and how you learn and work. People like the evergreen nature of this course because they usually have a lot going on in their lives and they enjoy the flexibility of learning at their own pace. I would say you can comfortably get your website up and running within a month if you dedicate some time to this course a few days a week. And don’t forget, you can always get quick help in the Facebook group if you’re ever stuck on anything. I am available and very active in that group.
What qualifies you to teach this course?
I've been there and done it. I designed my first website in 1999 and for many years I worked with Blogger, Typepad and Wordpress before falling in love with Squarespace in 2008. Since starting my own business as a Squarespace web designer in 2014 I have built more than 40 websites for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs. I am also a Squarespace Circle member and have many years of technical training experience. Click here to learn more about my background.
Do you teach branding or marketing?
I am not a branding or marketing specialist. However, I will teach you how to make design choices and create a beautiful website without being an expert. The beauty of my process is that it often reveals your brand identity along the way! And once you have created your professional website you can focus on marketing because now you have an impressive and well organized place where your customers get a clear understanding of you and your services.
Why do you like Squarespace so much?
Having spent almost two decades working with different systems I fell in love with Squarespace because it not only looks beautiful but also makes my life easier. I will never deny the benefits of Wordpress, which I used for many years and which is a very powerful platform. But even though I am a geek at heart I was just getting tired of the constant maintenance requirements in Wordpress and being at the mercy of the flakey plug-in designers and plug-ins that either slowed down or even broke my site. With Squarespace I never have to worry about the backend which frees me up to focus on the design, organization and functionality of my website. Plus you can't beat Squarespace's support, hands down the best I have ever experienced. I wrote a post about it! ➝ Read it here.
